Weekend Wishlist

Bracelet (Tri Delta, of course!) // Polka Dot Pouch // Sandals // Necklace // Popover // Agenda // iPhone Case

Throughout the week, I am constantly online shopping, filling my cart with things I want but will never buy, but realistically be able to afford! Every Saturday I will show you all the pretty things that I am dreaming of.

This weekend I plan on doing some shopping, errands (aka getting a pedicure with my mom), heading to the beach and working. During the summer, this is a pretty standard weekend. I am a shopping addict, so a trip to target, TJMaxx, Forever 21 or our local Towne Center are always on the agenda! Hoping you all are having a fabulous summer weekend.

Fashion Friday: Scallops

Shorts: Lilly Pulitzer // Dress: J. Crew Factory (Similar) // Phone Case: Kate Spade // Purse: ASOS // Top: Similar // Shoes: Similar

I am absolutely smitten for scallops this season. They add an adorable girl touch to any outfit. Recently I have picked up a few pieces that are scalloped including a tank top from TJ Maxx, and a pair of blush ballet flats from H&M which are no longer listed on their website. I have also recently ordered the scalloped dress from SheInside. Because it is a Chinese company and I am 5'9", I decided to size up on the dress just to make sure it would be long enough. I would love to pick up the Lilly Pulitzer Buttercup Shorts in Jellies Be Jammin'. It is my absolute favorite print from the summer collection.
I would love to see how you are styling scallops this season!

Netflix Essentials

While at school, its hard to keep up with weekly series. I have found that Netflix is the perfect way to enjoy a study break by watching at your own pace. Whether its only watching one episode while at the gym binge watching on a night off from school work, I'm pretty sure Netflix has at least one series for everyone. Here are a few that I have been loving!

1. Bones
Bones is based on forensic anthropology, with each episode focusing on an FBI case file concerning the mystery behind human remains brought by FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth to the forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan "Bones". With her team of "squints" Bones uses forensics to solve each case, while keeping the show interesting thought her relationship with Booth! While this show won't appeal to everyone, I absolutely love it and the comedic dynamic between Bones and her team.
2. Gossip Girl
The series begins with the return of Upper East Side it girl Serena Van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) from a mysterious stay at a boarding school. Blair  Waldorf (Leighton Meester), "Queen Bee" of the Upper East Side is a longtime friend and occasional rival of Serena's. The story also follows Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick), the bad boy of the Upper East Side and long time boyfriend of Blair; "golden boy" Nate Archibald (Chase Crawford), Chuck's best friend, and "Brooklyn Boy" Dan Humphries (Penn Badgley) the outsider and longtime boyfriend of Serena. This show is incredibly captivating and is definitely worth watching. I've seen the entire series three times!
3. Scandal
Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) is a former White House Communications Director for the President of the United States who has left to start her own crisis management firm, Olivia Pope & Associates. Olivia has decided to dedicate her life to protecting the public images of the nation's elite but is finding that no matter how hard she tries, she cannot leave parts of her past behind including her relationship with the president, Fitzgerald Grant! I would recommend this show 100%, it is the perfect combination of suspense and romance.
4. Pretty Little Liars
Set in the fictional town of Rosewood, Pennsylvania, the series follows the lives of Spencer Hastings , Hanna Marin, Emily Fields, and Aria Montgomery, who are four girls whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their friend, Allison. One year later, they begin receiving messages from a mysterious figure using the name "A", who threatens to expose their secrets. At first, they think it's Alison herself, but after her body is found, the girls realize that someone else knows their secrets. The girls continue to discover more and more information about "A" and Alison's disappearance—all while risking their lives. The show kind of drags on, but it is definitely the perfect shows for a marathon.
5. Grey's Anatomy
Grey's Anatomy follows the lives of the doctors and residents of Seattle Grace Hospital. Through heartbreak and the drama of life as an ER doctor, this show will never leave you hanging. Last summer, I watched what was available on Netflix and I plan on catching up as soon as it is released!

Now I am watching CSI: NY and am absolutely loving it! If you can't tell, crime shows are my favorite.

Beauty Favorites

Beauty Favorites
I am not someone who wears a ton of make-up everyday and my collection is pretty small. I have settled into an everyday routine that only takes about ten minutes! Here are a few of my everyday beauty favorite:
1. The Balm Frat Boy blush. This is the perfect peach color that I wear year round. While on the website they are a little more pricey than I would usually spend, I found mine on HauteLook for half the price!
2. Urban Decay Naked Basics pallete. This pallette is composed for five matte and one shimmer shadow. They are perfect for everyday natural wear and have a few darker colors for nighttime. Typically I put
3. Clump Crusher by Covergirl. I am absolutely in love with this mascara. Because my eyelashes are naturally blonde, I use the blackened brown color. This allows my eyelashed to stand out without looking too harsh.
4.  Amazonian Clay Mineral Bronzer in Park Ave Princess by Tarte. I don't wear bronzer that often but when I do this is what I reach for. It is light enough to not look orange on my skintone and has just enough shimmer to give my face a nice glow.
6. Revlon ColorBurst Matte Lip Balms. These are my all time favorite lip sticks. I have naturally dry lips, and these all me to wear a pop of color on my lips while adding moisture. The colors I wear regularly are Audacious, Unapologetic, and Elusive!
7. Not only do I love the Clinique Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder, but also the Line Smoothing Concealer and the Stay-Matte Oil Free Foundation. Together, these three products are the perfect comdination for a medium coverage natural face!

These are just a few of my beauty favorites!

Sorority Recruitment

At my school, recruitment takes place throughout the first week after Christmas Break. We have five amazing sororities here on campus, and even though I went into recruitment with my heart set on one I know that I would’ve been happy in each of them.

The first night of recruitment was Go Greek Night! Each of the approximately 450 girls going through recruitment wore an adorable comfort colors frocket tee. With it I wore skinny jeans, boots, my monogram necklace (that I wear basically everyday), and my Tory Burch earrings. This night we went to all five parties, and just chatted with as many girls as possible about their involvement on campus and other fun things about the sorority. That night, we chose one of the five sororities to drop.

The second night was Philanthropy Night! This night we were told to wear something that you would wear to class. After long deliberation and many outfit changes I chose to wear maroon chords from Gap, a tan Piko top, ankle booties from TJMaxx, with a statement necklace, hoop earrings, and my bow bracelet. This night I was lucky enough to go to back to the four sororities that I wanted. Each sorority talks about their specific philanthropy and the special functions on campus.

The third night was Sisterhood Night! The dress for this night was ‘business casual’ which basically meant to wear a cute dress and heals. I wore a Jack by BB Dakota dress that I got from Modcloth on a great sale, black tights because it actually snowed that night, and the same booties from TJMaxx with a mini bubble necklace from etsy! This night was much more intimate. Sisters shared personal stories about how the sorority has affected their friendships and at two of the parties girls actually sang. Here is a picture of some of my friends and I before Sisterhood Night!

The last night of recruitment is Pref Night! This night you go to two parties for around an hour and a half and you are escorted in by someone that you knew previously or had become close with during the week. It is a very special time, that allows you to ask any questions in order to make your decision.

An entire week after recruitment had started was BID DAY! Let’s just say that during recruitment I barely ate or slept and waiting for my bid was no exception. Waiting for the Rho Gamma’s to reactive the bids was exciting and nerve racking at the same time. When I opened my bid and saw the three Deltas I could not have been happier!

Tri Delta is the sorority that I have loved since the very beginning of the school year and going through recruitment just reaffirmed my love! Each girl that I talked to was so nice and genuine that I knew it was where I was supposed to be. We got a letter that said at 2pm meet in the Gazebo in your craziest Gold and Blue! I ended up wearing gold leggings from American Apparel, a silver bow also from American Apparel, and the t-shirt and hat that we received. Everyone says that Bid Day is the best day of your freshman year and I could not agree more. It was so much fun to meet my new pledge class and all of the girls that I now call sisters!

Hope you enjoyed! If you have any other questions about my recruitment experience feel free to comment or send me an e-mail!

My Summer Internship

This summer I am interning at our town's local Youth Court which is established through the Police Department. Even though I have only been working for a week, I know that my experience this summer is going to be amazing. Not only am I going to learn the daily workings of the Youth Court, but I also have the opportunity to spend a week working at the municipal court, a week working at the solicitor's office downtown during a murder trial, some time working with the detectives who work in evidence, and participating in police ride alongs. I am extremely excited about all of the opportunities that I will have this summer. Even though I do not want to go into law, I want to do forensics and having an understanding of how the police department and judicial system work together is extraordinarily relevant.

Here are some tips on how to find an internship after your freshman year of college!

1. Start Local: After freshman year, you do not exactly have the experience or knowledge to obtain a high power internship, but it is still important to have an internship for your resume. This is the time to look for local or smaller businesses that are relevant to your major! Because this internship will most likely be unpaid, it'll allow you to have time to enjoy your summer and also have another job.

2. Have Multiple Options: When first thinking of possible internship options, I made a list of three or four places that I would email asking about jobs for the summer. Full Disclosure: I am an organizational freak and LOVE making lists! This list included places that I was pretty much guaranteed to get a job from and one reach that if I got the job I would love it, but if not I could always reapply. This allowed me to get an internship I knew that I would be happy with.

3. Be Persistent: I am the first intern that the Youth Court has ever had. Being persistent allowed me to be the pioneer of this position. If someone doesn't reply, it's not because they don't want you, but because they receive hundreds of emails a day and yours just got lost. Don't think you're being annoying (like I usually do) and be persistent. In reality, it shows that you have a good work ethic and are interested in the position.
